"I Fell in Love With The Majesty of Colors" is a pixel-horror game that puts the player behind the tentacles of a titanic, writhing sea creature. It's a tale of love, loss, and balloons with five different endings. Will you befriend the humans or fight them? The choice is up to you.

Hold down the mouse button to reach toward the cursor. Release the mouse button to let go of what you're holding. You can click to skip the text in the opening and closing cutscenes.

This game was inspired by H.P. Lovecraft and Daniel Benmergui's "I Wish I Were the Moon." For my blog and podcast, check out http://ludusnovus.net .

Newgrounds denizen Wormie made fan art for the game, which you can see at http://dangertable.devian tart.com/art/The-Majesty- Of-Balloons-111760650 .

The Majesty of Colors is an art game by GregoryWeir. It tells the story of a creature who lives in the sea.

Story Edit

Gregory Weir states in the notes that the story is inspired by "I Wish I Were the Moon", a story by H.P. Lovecraft and Daniel Benmergui. The Majesty of Colors allows the player to control a person dreaming that they are a huge sea monster, with three enormous eyes and a long tentacle. One day, it notices several balloons. Upon further inspection, it becomes fascinated by its colors and the creatures, humans, that created them. Depending on how the player interacts with humans they meet, they can have one of five endings. These include befriending humans and saving a drowning child from sharks, befriending the humans but failing to save the child, attacking the humans and being destroyed by mines, attacking the humans and being destroyed by a submarine, and attacking the humans and killing them all.

Gameplay Edit

The Majesty of Colors is a very short game, lasting only about two or three minutes per playthrough. Players control the monster's tentacle using the mouse. It can be used to grab onto balloons, people, fish, sharks, and even projectile weapons. Instead of having a traditional health system, the monster has three eyes. When an eye is hit by a weapon, it is destroyed. When all three eyes are destroyed, the game ends.

Presentation Edit

The Majesty of Colors

The Majesty of Colors, like many other artistic games, uses a simple, pixellated style.

The Majesty of Colors uses the same pixellated style that GregoryWeir uses in several of his other games. The game starts and ends with white text on a black background, and uses a colored environment during the game. White text on the top of the screen occasionally appears to explain the creature's thoughts and reactions. The Majesty of Colors uses a variety of sound effects, but there is no music.

Reception Edit

Despite only winning the Weekly Third award, The Majesty of Colors has over 530,000 views and an average review of 9.5/10. It is also featured in three collections: Flash Portal History, Art Games, and Puzzles. On Newgrounds's rival sites such as Kongregate, it is even more popular, with over 700,000 plays on that site alone.[1]
