Edit: Thanks Tom for the FrontPage! :D

Edit: With the whole last sprite thing, I was mostly referring to what I normally do. Which was movies. With a game, I don't exactly see it as a parody. I've had this game just sitting around, it was to be the "Power Star Game", but instead I turned it into a short little fun experience.

Your Super Mario! What does that mean? It means you gotta go kick Bowsers ass! And thats exactly what your going to do!

Heres a fun little short game I made with my sprites. Power Star fans, this is your game. Hope you guys all have fun playing it.

Note This information only refers to the official release on the Flash Portal.

Mario-Combat is an action platformer by D-SuN. It portrays the popular video game character Mario in an attack on Bowser's castle.

Design[]

Mario-Combat has a chicken design. One can either read a basic tutorial or play through the entire game in one sitting. The first few screens of the game contain platforms(p h) which must be navigated and enemy Koopas, biped turtles, that must be defeated. The final stage contains a one-on-one fight against Bowser, Mario's nemesis. The aim of the game is to get a high score, which is obtained by defeating enemies in massive combos and not dying. However, the high scores board, which was hosted at Armor Games, is currently unavailable. Ps you cannot save your game and have to finish it in one sitting.

Gameplay[]

Gameplay in Mario-Combat is inspired by the original platforming games. Mario can run and jump using the arrow keys and wall jump by pressing the Up arrow key when next to a wall. The feature unique to this game is Mario's attacking. Unlike in the original Mario games, where Mario lacks any kind of melee attack, Mario can punch forward by clicking the A key. By pressing it repeatedly and while holding down different keys, the player can produce a variety of attacks.

Presentation[]

Mario-Combat

Mario-Combat uses SNES sprites.

Mario-Combat uses modified versions of the sprites from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System game, Super Mario World. The music, however, includes songs from later Mario games, particularly Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy. One notable feature about the game's presentation is the camera, which zooms in and out to accommodate the action on the screen.

Reception[]

Despite its brevity and simplicity, Mario-Combat has been fairly popular on Newgrounds, and has won a Daily Feature award. As of May 2012, it has had over 1 million views, and an average review of 9.0/10. It is also featured in the Action Games and Mario collections.
