Hank J. Wimbleton

From Wikigrounds, the free Newgrounds encyclopedia

Hank J. Wimbleton is the name given to the protagonist of Madness Combat. Originally the character was without a name, but a poster in Madness Apotheosis depicted this name (which was later confirmed by Krinkels himself). Apparently he is a highly trained combatant who uses his skill to effortlessly decimate his opponents, the Agency Against Hank Wimbleton. He does however have trouble defeating the two main opponents, Jesus and Tricky. Hank's past as well as his motives in the series are unknown and have not yet been divulged by Krinkels, but it is suspected that this will become clear in the final animation. As said before, his motives are not clear, so fans are forced to piece together whatever they can from the previous episodes. Hank was also in the possession of his own car for a short period of time. Krinkels has also stated he will be revived one last time.

WARNING: Plot ending and/or ending details follow.

[edit] Madness Combat

In Madness Combat and Madness Redeemer, Hank was indistinguishable from most of the other characters.
In the original animation, Hank was the protagonist. However, he was nameless and only described as "Our Hero". In the beginning Hank is standing in a park with others nearby. One of them is playing a boom-box (rumors yet to be confirmed say this may actually be Tricky). Hank approaches the boom-box's owner for reasons unknown. The owner punches Hank to the ground and the brawling begins. After defeating a total of 32 opponents, including Jesus and two zombies that he created, Hank emerges victorious and virtually unscathed. It is also notably the only Madness animation in which Hank survives until Madness Antipathy, much later in the series.

[edit] Madness Redeemer

In the second Madness animation, Hank is once again the protagonist and deals out hefty damage. He is still nameless in this episode. Hank's goal is to track down and kill the sheriff, but his reasons for doing so are unknown. During the course of the episode, wanted posters are seen but they bear no name, so his identity is still unknown. Hank shows that he is a clever fighter, such as when he tricks enemies into entering the elevator and then cutting it. Hank almost achieved his objective before Jesus shot him through the back of his head, killing Hank for the first time. Hank kills a grand total of 80 people in this episode, including Tricky in his first appearance.

[edit] Madness Avenger

Hank appears once more in the third installment in the Madness Combat series. As the intro states, he was "given a second chance"; he was going after the sheriff again. After the incident in the last episode, Hank is now wearing bandages over his head over the place where he was shot. Once again, his goal is to kill the sheriff. He manages to finish the sheriff off this time, but not before he is fatally stabbed through the chest by none other than Jesus.

[edit] Madness Apotheosis

Hank returns in the fourth episode without any real goal: his original target, the sheriff, is now dead. His appearance is also different in that he is wearing bandages across his chest where he was stabbed in the previous episode in addition to the bandages on his head from the previous episode. Though unclear, his objective appears to be to kill Tricky. He almost accomplishes his objective as he shoots Tricky in the head several times with an MP5, but this fails to stop Tricky for good. Not soon afterward Jesus appeared and eventually finished Hank off, but not before he detonated a suicide bomb, killing them both.

[edit] Madness Depredation

Hank is still the protagonist in the fifth installment of the series. Hank's appearance is drastically altered. His body is covered in bandages from head to toe and he is wearing a black coat, bandanna, and mask which attempt to conceal his battered body. His new look is rounded off by a pair of red sunglasses akin to those worn by Léon [1] in the eponymous film. Yet again his objective is unclear, but apparently it is to kill Jesus. After a long brawl with Jesus, Tricky eventually appeared at which point reality was "compromised." Tricky eventually gained the upper hand (after defying death twice) and slaughtered Hank by impaling him through the chest with the warning sign and then by tearing his head off and pounding it into the ground.

[edit] Madness Antipathy

Hank is miraculously alive in the sixth episode. He was "denied death", (implying he wishes to find peace in death) and revived by Tricky. Hank looks much like he did in the last episode except this time his head is connected to his body by bandages and he's missing his jaw (which was pounded off in the last episode) is replaced by a metal plate; the upper jaw is still intact and exposes his teeth. Also, the wound he received in the previous episode in which Tricky impaled him through the chest with the Warning Sign has been covered over by another metal plate which bears the symbol ">=D", an Internet smiley connected with Krinkels. Due to these fatal wounds, it is reasonable to assume that, at least at this point, Hank is now possibly a zombie. His objective is, once again, unclear, but the episode hints to the fact that he was trying to turn off the Improbability Drive or to kill Tricky. Hank fails to deactivate the Improbability Drive, however, as he finds that the activation button has been taped down by Tricky. The clown then makes his appearance and makes things difficult for Hank, including a case in which he was impaled through the throat with the Warning Sign but was later revived by Tricky.

Eventually Hank cornered Tricky near a cliff face, defenseless, and made his move. Hank chopped into Tricky's head with an axe, shot his body up with a P90 he had picked up along the way, and dropped him over the cliff. But unfortunately, the Improbability Drive brought Tricky back once again, this time as a giant flaming beast. Hank was shown firing at the new foe just before the animation ended, leaving it as the first cliffhanger of the series.

[edit] Madness Consternation

Hank after being revived by Tricky
Hank is revived once more by Tricky, after being slaughtered, now looking as if he was completely unharmed, with his trench coat buttoned up, red goggle-like glasses and a new black bandanna. He is also wearing black gloves. Upon being revived (again) Hank is seen saying, "Knock it off!", probably meaning that he wants to stay dead and find peace (also, several posters throughout the animation show phrases such as "He must be abused" most likely written by Tricky). Hank seems to ache on the bloodthirsty side effects of the Improbability Drive in this episode, being more violent than ever (curiously, he also takes more bullets by regular l33t agents in this episode than usual, meaning either he is growing weaker in his heavily wounded body, or the agents are becoming more advanced). Hank is able to wound Tricky and kill a giant 1337 agent known as "Mag-Agent: Torture" in this episode, but is killed by Jesus at the end after a shot in the head by his revolver.

[edit] Madness Inundation

Hank is seen at the very start and end of the animation with Tricky. They remain dead since Madness Consternation and they're just simple cameos.

[edit] Madness Combat 9

At the beginning of Madness 9, Hank is dead. Sanford and Deimos fight to bring him to the facility with the restoration chamber, where they sucessfully revive him. Hank is now larger than before, and has a crustecean claw in place of a right arm. He is able to sucessflly brawl with a MAG agent before facing the Auditor.
